Start With Love – Instapiration for The New Year

In Inspiration, Journal, Social Change, Spirit, Yoga & Meditation

As the new year comes we often spend this time trying to be everything we are not and make all the changes we can to become the superhuman of our ideals. I love a good intention and vision for the new year. But this year I want to START WITH LOVE.

When this came to me a couple of months ago, immediately a voice entered my head telling me it was a rubbish idea and that nobody wanted to hear about my love of my own feet. I am prone to being hard on myself and focus on what is wrong/needs work rather then what I enjoy about who I am.

I realised I was scared of sharing out loud (on social media or even just with myself) things about me I love, it’s not very British. And so I thought, what a fabulous and empowering challenge. To not only come up with 31 things that I love about myself, but to share them as instapiration. And as I do it, to give you permission to love yourself even more, maybe even look at your own feet with new love.

“You, yourself, as much as anybody else in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ~ Buddha

We know that when we have gratitude for what we already have in our life that we are happier and healthier (neuroscience shows us). I feel that the more we love ourselves, the more capacity we have to love the world that we are part of. The more we learn to recognise the beauty in ourselves, the more we can see it, nurture it and strengthen it in others. Our relationship with others is determined by our relationship with ourself. And when we are caring deeply for ourselves, and our community, then of course we want to care for our planet too, our home, and all who live here.

Join me in this challenge by posting a photo to instagram every day for January 2016, sharing some words of why you love this part of you. It can be anything from your body, to the way you handle yourself in certain situations, to the way you make your friends feel.

To help, I have come up with some themes for each day. These are just a guideline and if you feel called to post about different things or to post some days and not all, that’s cool. As you know, with me, rules are made to be broken.

On your posts mention me @amishaghadiali so I can share in your adventure of self-love. And add the hashtags #StartWithLove #LoveMyselfLoveTheWorld #Instapiration

I will be gifting somebody who does the challenge all 31 days a piece of Amisha Jewellery.

If you are taking part, add your instagram link in the comments below so we can all find each other, and build this loving community.

I look forward to this deep adventure. Below are the themes.

See you over on Instagram…

To Inspire:

“As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody if I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.

As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.

As I began to love myself I quit stealing my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worrying about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where everything is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.

As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But as I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know “THAT IS LIFE”!”
